Job Description

Catalyst is modern American cuisine restaurant located in Kendall Square searching for a bartender to join their FOH team. The bartender reports directly to the Restaurant Manager/Sommelier and collaborates with all departments and team members as needed. The right candidate must have a passion for creating crafted cocktails and extensive crafted beer knowledge. He/she is expected to deliver excellent service while maintaining Catalyst service standards and health and safety practices.

Job Requirements/Qualifications:

• TIPS Certified
• Minimum of two years previous bartending experience
• Strong wine and spirits knowledge
• Ability to multi-task and handle stressful situations
• Critical thinking/problem solving skills
• Passionate about the hospitality industry and service
• Understand excellent service and the culture of hospitality
• Ability to develop positive relationships with guests and colleagues
• Treats guests and all team members with respect and professionalism
• Upholding the Catalyst vision statement and standards
• Cultivating a positive work environment
• AM/PM weekday availability and weekend availability
• Food safety training considered a bonus

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide excellent customer service
• Greet guests and present menus
• Take food/beverage orders and communicate dietary restrictions to the guest and kitchen team
• Upsell when appropriate
• Maintain cleanliness of bar
• Setup/breakdown bar daily
• Preparing the bar for the following shift
• Prepare and serve selections of wines, spirits and cocktails from the menu while ensuring proper mixing and blending
• Assist with developing new cocktails for the beverage program
• Deliver checks and collect payments
• Adhere to all relevant health department rules/regulations and Catalyst standards
• Follow Catalyst steps of service
• Complete daily side work
• Correctly use POS system
